If you’re affected by erectile dysfunction, you’re not alone. In the U.S., the prevalence is 18.4%.
Erectile dysfunction can cause all sorts of issues besides sexual dissatisfaction. It can result in low self-esteem, lack of confidence, anxiety, and relationship problems. Erectile dysfunction can also affect your partner. Lack of sexual intimacy may be a cause of frustration. Your partner might experience low self-esteem or self-doubt, believing they’re to blame for the problem.
But erectile dysfunction isn’t something you or your partner have to put up with. One effective treatment option is the Priapus Shot® (P-Shot®).
P-Shot: An Overview
There are different reasons for erectile dysfunction:
- Age
- Stress
- Mental health issues
- Physical health issues
- Poor diet
- Relationship problems
- Starting a new relationship
In some cases, erectile dysfunction resolves when the underlying issues are dealt with. Others have to do with a health condition that limits blood flow to the penis. These can include:
- Heart disease
- Diabetes (More than half of men with diabetes struggle with the condition.)
- Peyronie’s disease
The result of these is erections that are difficult to achieve and maintain long enough for sexual intercourse. The P-Shot aims to correct this. It involves taking blood-derived growth factors from your own body and injecting them into your penis. This is designed to stimulate blood flow, leading to firmer, longer-lasting erections.
Eligibility for the Priapus Shot (P-Shot)
You may be a good candidate for the P-Shot if you suffer from the problems below:
- Erections too soft or brief for intercourse
- Loss of sexual pleasure and sensation
- Low sexual stamina
- Inability to achieve erections
You would also make a great candidate for the P-Shot if:
- You have tried other treatments, medications, and lifestyle changes for erectile dysfunction with little to no improvement.
- You are looking for a less invasive form of treatment for erectile dysfunction.
- You have a history of prostate cancer, diabetes, or Peyronie’s disease, all of which inhibit blood flow to the penis.
P-Shot: The Consultation
Dr. Ver Halen is an experienced, Board-certified cosmetic surgeon who understands the issues faced by men with erectile dysfunction. He will invite you in for a one-on-one consultation before treatment, where you’ll discuss:
- Your desired outcome and expectations
- Your medical history, as well as any medical conditions you have
- Your current use of prescription drugs, dietary supplements, alcohol, tobacco, and/or recreational drugs
- Your allergies
- Risks of the procedure
A personal consultation with Dr. Ver Halen is the best way to find out if the P-Shot is the right procedure for you.
P-Shot: The Procedure
The P-Shot first involves drawing blood from your arm, as would happen during a blood test. Your blood is then placed in a centrifuge to separate it into its darker components. The latter is a yellow-colored serum. Dr. Ver Halen then injects the serum into your penis. This stimulates blood flow, making your penis appear larger. This treatment is known for its healing and growth factors. It leads to tissue growth and rejuvenation. The P-Shot improves circulation of blood flow and helps to grow new blood vessels. This helps to correct erectile dysfunction by:
- Achieving a stronger erection
- Enhancing sexual performance
- Increasing pleasure and sensitivity
Many of our patients have also reported improved penis size—length and girth. You can expect to enjoy better erectile function immediately after treatment. Having said that, you’ll really notice effects 3 weeks after treatment, with full effects taking place 12 weeks post-treatment. The procedure itself lasts just 30 minutes, with results lasting around 3 months and sometimes up to 12 to 18 months.
P-Shot: The Recovery
The Priapus Shot is a simple outpatient procedure. After treatment, you can resume normal activities, including sexual intercourse. Most patients only feel minimal pain during the P-Shot procedure. It’s not the sort of treatment you need to take time off work to recover from.
P-Shot Risks
Since the Priapus Shot is a non-invasive procedure, there are fewer risks compared to surgical treatment. Also, your own blood is used, so there is no risk of allergic reaction. There are still a few potential side effects to be aware of. These include:
- Pain or tenderness
- Lumps or bumps
- Firmness
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Temporary skin reactions, such as redness
If these side-effects—or any pain—persist for more than a few days, check in with Dr. Ver Halen. We encourage you to keep us up-to-date with the results of your P-Shot.
How to Pay for a P-Shot
Dr. Ver Halen accepts a variety of payment options for the Priapus Shot. These include healthcare credit cards supplied by Synchrony Bank (CareCredit®) and Comenity® Capital Bank (Alphaeon Credit®). Another option is to use a secured loan from United Medical Credit or Enhance Patient Finance. United Medical Credit is suitable for prime and subprime lenders and has multiple plan options and flexible terms. Other options for funding the treatment include:
